Robert Kane A.K.A "Mr Alligator" Profile.
Rob is the heart of the band with his outstanding charismatic stage presence and his own style of vocals.
However, Rob was in bands before the Alligators namely he was a vocalist for The Showbiz Kids from 1976-1981 and after that was
in many bands, until 1984 when he formed Well Well Well, which signed a record deal with Arista Records and released albums,
where he remained until 1989 when he became front man for the Alligators.
However, in 1993 the Alligators as a five peace, embarked on another
band as well and that was The Animals 2, the only difference was the
Animals 2 had a keyboard player mostly it was Steve Hutchinson, but on
occasions it would be David Heslop and later The Dod was replaced with
John Steel the 1960’s Animals original drummer, from 1993 until
1994 both bands would gig.
However in 1995 The Alligators announced they were
disbanding and the Animals 2 changed line-up to Robert Kane –
vocals, Hilton Valentine – guitar, Steve Dawson – guitar,
Steve Hutchinson – keyboards, Martin Bland – bass, and John
Steel – drums, where they released albums, one notable one was
called Interesting Life on the label A 2 Records but it is said to be
quite hard to get a hold of According to Rob! Rob however left the band
in 1999.
Robs next venture was with Dr Feelgood where he tours the
globe, as he did with the Animals 2, he has made more than 2000
appearances with Dr Feelgood to date and still counting, a link can be found to their official website on the links page of this website.
However in 2006 he had an idea of bringing the Alligators back together
for a few gigs a month although now the Alligators mainly only tour
around the north east in the month of January and a few other dates
throughout the year too, due to all members being in other bands as
well as Rob.
